Gamer refuses to share their expensive laptop with a 10-year-old cousin, but when the entitled aunt demands access, she gets kicked out of the house: ‘I saved up for 2 years to build my own PC'

She saved up her money to buy a nice laptop for gaming and work, not for a 10-year-old's Fortnite matches and Cheeto fingers. 

iPad parents are worse than the kids. Obsessed with the hypnotic effect of screens and reliant on binky-like dampening of their child's behavior, screen-pushing parents turn their children into feral beasts. Like greedy little monsters who need their fix of Candy Crush every 20-minutes, a child who's accustomed to having a computer at their disposal at all times quickly becomes a tyrant when they're left to other devices. 

However, this is a product of parental downfall, and the gamer in this next story, who cherished and worked hard for their gaming PC, wasn't going to let their equipment fall victim to their aunt's poor parenting choices.

  • She worked hard to keep her computer clean, safe, and functioning at the highest level. Although to some, a computer is just a computer. Some people think that laptops are just made for emails, Facebook, and nothing else, but to a gamer, who's researched for years about RAM, computer chips, programmable keyboard lights, graphics cards, and processors, a computer is more than just a digital messaging pigeon: It's a highly capable machine. 

  • Yesterday, my aunt (moms sister) came over to visit with my cousin (10M). We were just talking and having coffee when my cousin saw my computer. he immediately ran over and asked if he could play fortnite on it.

  • If the kid needed to stare at a screen so badly, why wasn't the TV enough?

    The aunt clearly didn't respect the boundaries of their niece, because they started getting pushy and digging their heels in. Seems to me like this entire family has a problem with screen time, especially when a tantrum is bubbling up on the horizon.

  • Computers aren't a toy. If anyone remembers the days when a computer was so big it required an entire room to itself, you'll recall that computers aren't just some Game Boy you can fold up and throw in your backpack. They're designed to connect the world, enter games beyond your imagination, and to surf the web to high heck infinity. 

    Even the 10-year-old seemed to respect his cousin more than the aunt did. Or at least he was aware that the computer was more than just a toy.
